Rubenstein Supply Company was founded during the difficult years of the Great Depression by three brothers, Morris, Henry and Bob Rubenstein. The company got its start salvaging plumbing fixtures obtained from their grandfatherís building demolition business. Native Oaklanders born in their parents house at 6th and Castro Streets, the brothers decided to build their new store in Oakland. Today, over fifty-five years following their founding, Rubenstein Supply is a leading wholesaler serving the plumbing industry. The founding brothers retired in 1986, turning control of the company over to Bob Rubenstein and his son Craig. A 1969 graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, Craig joined the company immediately following college. Rubenstein Supply Company has grown to become a leading supplier of plumbing and HVAC products to the Bay Area. In May of 1995 Rubenstein Supply opened a branch in San Rafael, California. Both branches have a complete stock of plumbing, heating and sheet metal supplies. The Oakland branch is open Monday through Friday 7am to 5pm and Saturdays from 7:30am to 11:30am. San Rafael is open Monday through Friday 7am to 5pm. In June of 2005 the third branch of Rubenstein Supply opened in San Jose, CA.
